so i guess dsquared is genius

Here are some pics from dsquared's latest fashion show.
It pretty much plays homage to MK and Ashley and all the other starlets out there who tote around their Starbucks and Gossip mags. GENIUS.

an open letter to miley ray cyrus

dear miley,
something tells me that your current bf
doesn't like you for your personality. don't
quote me on this, but i am pretty sure it
has to do with the fact that
you are miley cyrus/hannah montana.
regards,
a concerned citizen.

But in all seriousness,
IT'S STILL A FELONY! (anyone watch the soup?)
What I hate most about this is that miley pretends to be all "christian" and claims that the bible is her favorite book but then she goes around and totes her man-boy toy around everywhere and claims to be really mature for her age. Just because you hang out with older "hipsters" and your "best friend" is some 21 year old backup dancer, does not mean you are mature. I'm not the most mature person in the world, but I do know that if you are mature, you don't go around singing songs about how much you hate your ex-boyfriend.
And let's not forget the most important detail
YOU ARE SIXTEEN, HE IS TWENTY (and i'm pretty sure, almost 21).
That's ILLEGAL.
UGH AND STOP WEARING THOSE ANNOYING HIPPY HEADBANDS (AND STOP TAKING RISQUE MYSPACE PICS OF YOURSELF)

daft punk is playing at your house but mgmt is playing at mine

peter pan, the boy who never wanted to grow up, still doesn't wear that

WARNING: CONTAINS OPINIONS THAT OTHERS MAY (BUT REALLY SHOULDN'T) DISAGREE WTIH

boys. boys. boys.
Lately around my college campus I have spotted boys wearing neon Hollister and Abercrombie.
CRINGE.
I'm sorry, but really? I get that you want to be a "bro" and have sex with a ton of chicks but in all honesty, you look really stupid and you'll most likely end up attracting the wrong kind of girls. By wrong I mean Gonorrhea, Syphilis, and maybe even the dreaded Crabs.
But really, all joking aside, the brightness of your neon A&F combined with your gelled hair, torn up jeans, and puka shell necklace DOES NOT make you cool. Or attractive. And if I remember correctly, people wore blatant Abercrombie shirts back in middle school. So if you're in middle school, that's fine, you don't deserve to be ridiculed more than you are already experiencing at the moment. But if you're over the age of 13- please think SUBTLE.
It's fine if you wear those brands but here are some guidelines to follow...

1.) NO BRIGHT OR OBNOXIOUSLY GIRLISH PASTEL COLORS

2.) NO ANNOYING "LAGUNA SURFER CLUB" OR "SO CAL SURF WAX" SLOGANS
-Contrary to popular belief, girls realize that these so-called clubs and merchandise really don't exist. We can see the moose/bird logo. Or even the name "hollister"(most likely)/"abercrombie" written across your chest.

3.) This goes without saying: DO NOT BUY IT TOO SMALL

Ok, so now that's all out of my system, here are acceptable things you can buy from those respective stores:

1.) Button. Down. Shirts.
There is no girl I haven't met that doesn't love a boy in a button down shirt. If you meet one, you have most likely met someone who is actually a man, just so you know.
Seriously though, button downs bring out the "I-need-to-rent-that-one-hugh-grant-movie-and-invite-all-my-girls-over-to-watch-it-and-eat-junk food-and-read-gossip-magazines" girl in me.

2.) The plain and simple tee.
It's just a t-shirt and that's what I like about it.

3.) Feel free to buy some cute boxers or shorts :)

Ok, so you've read my rant. I apologize if I offended some of you but just remember that simple is always better -never underestimate the power of no labels!

... like mcadams loves gosling

uhhhh ohhh...
I for sure did something I shouldn't have done...
I BOUGHT A NEW DRESS ON ETSY!
ok, I know, I know,
I don't have a job lined up currently and I am on
a college student budget. But can we just take a gander at this glorious thing?? Seriously. It's gold sequins in a cool drapey-waterfall-cascade pattern on black velvet. That's something I never wear/ever think to wear!! But I'm excited and when it comes I'll try to put up some pics!

But anyway... does anyone have any good fashion ideas for spring? or maybe share with us what you bought? And can I just say that ETSY is freaking amazing! There is tons of super cute stuff on that site; you might have to dig a little bit but it's worth it! I was even thinking of putting some stuff up or something :) we'll see though.

DRESSES ARE LEGIT!!! I am so getting into them now!!
comment and tell me whatcha think lovelies!

i gave up snack bad snack food... and candy :(

As I am reeling over my recent loss of sugary candy and snacks (I'm typing this while drinking a bottle of Smart Water and eating pretzel sticks) I am coming to realize that spring is in the air! Thank goodness, going to college in the midwest can be a sick joke sometimes. Anyway, it's brighter and fresher and I am beginning to see green everywhere! It also gets me inspired to shop, yay! Here are some ideas:

My wardrobe this summer will consist of shorts, just like every summer past. And this pair of Levi's from Urban Outfitters is amazing! Slouchy denim is definitely in right now.

American Eagle Skinny Jeans. They are having a sale on all of their jeans, and I think these are like $30! They seriously look like an expensive designer brand of denim and I can tell you (from experience) that their jeans are great. Really comfy.

Another little ditty from American Eagle, one of my favorite inexpensive places to shop. Seriously, their stuff is sososososo good! And they have about a billion airy scarves in their store right now. They are less than twenty bucks, so stock up! I've already got a red one and I absolutely adore it!

Alright so this is the Viktor and Rolf sequined sweatshirt from their f/w 08 campaign. UUGH it is so beautiful yet super pricy. And because we are in the time of an economic crisis (and also because I really don't think I could spend $1000 on a simple, short sleeved sweatshirt) I think I might try and make myself one from sequins at Michael's craft store and use this less expensive number from James Perse

These jeans are the Current/Elliott Boyfriend jeans at Shopbop.com. They are $218. I think these would work good with cooler summer nights and for having dinner at restaurants near the lake. They are perfect with a fitted t-shirt, like a Splendid V-neck.

Well there you have it, my spring things I am currently lusting after. Unfortunately I already did some serious damage by buying two new pairs of jeans and a couple of t-shirts, but I think that if you buy for spring, you can practically use the stuff into summer and fall and layer in the winter.

What are everyone's thoughts on spring shopping?

i'll get you [my pretty]... and your compost pile too!

I'm in my horrible environmental science lecture with my teacher who is currently showing us a picture of how he practically gutted a deer. Gee thanks but that is really something I didn't need to see. I hate this class so much; this guy (I don't even know his name) shows us pictures of his farm and what he eats for dinner (i.e. organic food he grows in his garden and the only thin unorganic is his beer but he told us he's going to try to ferment his own brand), and he also has shown us pictures of his compost piles. Believe it or not, this man is married. With a kid. And a dog. FML. Aaand now he's showing us pictures of his tractor. Thank God I have this computer. Last time I was doing research on the Cold Stone website.
Can I just say that WHY DID COLD STONE DECIDE TO MAKE CUPCAKES?? Just when I told myself I was going on a pre-spring break diet, they have to go make these 1000 calorie cupcakes with my favorite flavor (cake batter). Damnit. This just means that I'm going to have to wait until next week to start my diet. That or realize that Cold Stone is seriously overpriced. Their "Like It" size is practically $4. Boo.

Speaking of Cold Stone, my roommate and I went there the other day just before the Oscars. We ate and sat in front of our tv and watched as the skinny beautiful people walked down the carpet with their gorgeous dresses.

Some of my Favorites:

SJP in Dior Haute Couture.
WERK IT CARRIE BRADSHAW! Ok, so my mother thought that SJP went a little bit too far, especially because she was nominated for jack squat, but I believe that if you wanna go all out just go all out. Her "barely mint" dress is seriously gorgeous and even though the girls were a little "HELLOHOWAREYA" in the fitted bodice, it still looked classy and perfect. Bravo!

Mickey Rourke in Dolce and Gabbana?
I'm guessing Mickey's in Dolce and Gabbana, but I'm not 100% sure. Well either way, it is very Mickey Rourke and I like it. Argue with me if you want, but it's really true to him. And he is wearing a pendant of his dog Loki, who passed away only six days before. That's pretty cute -cue the aaaaawwwwwws.

Freida Pinto in John Galliano.
Seriously, Freida is my new girl crush. She is absolutely stunning and this dress is beautiful on her -I like how it's a mixture of old Hollywood and also Indian. Usually John Galliano scares me but this is truly stunning.

Natalie Portman in Rodarte.
Simply gorgeous! I love Natalie so much and she has really good taste in clothes. She always looks so put together in anything she wears.

So beautiful! I'm jealous already!
